The River Girvan Angling Club

Are you looking for somewhere to go fishing in Girvan, South Ayrshire, Scotland? The River Girvan Angling Club offers salmon and wild trout fishing on approx. 1 mile of the river Girvan and rainbow trout fishing at the stocked Glendrissaig Reservoir near the town. The river opens on 25th February and closes on 31st October. Important: Fishing in the river on a Sunday is illegal. In order to help regrowth in salmon numbers all salmon caught on the river Girvan must be returned. This policy will help to ensure increased fishing potential for many years to come.

The reservoir is open all year round.

There are two options for your fishing needs.

You can apply to become a member of the club (application form here), which allows you to fish the river at any time during the above season and in any of the club competitions on the river or on the reservoir. We also have competitions at other venues. Club membership also allows you to fish on the reservoir at any time throughout the year with one fish being allowed per day and the rest on catch and release. Adult membership costs £50.00. We are committed to encouraging young people to take up the sport of fishing and offer a junior membership (under 16) as a free part of a parent's membership.

The second option is to fish on a day ticket, either on the river or on the reservoir. River day tickets cost £10 and reservoir day tickets cost £15 (includes one fish). Junior (under 16) reservoir day tickets cost £10 (includes one fish).
